As much as I would like to poke fun at the “Uni-Tea” rally, which helped indicate the diversity in the Tea Party movement with a lily-white crowd, I can’t quite do it.
The only thing as professedly diverse but actually blindingly white as the Tea Party movement is probably the liberal blogosphere (or the blogosphere in general).
For instance, let’s look at the masthead of Talking Points Memo, which published the Tea Party diversity story.

So, maybe we shouldn’t be quite so eager to point the finger at the Tea Party, eh? This isn’t to attack TPM, whose work I admire greatly, but to illustrate that diversity issues need airing out on the left, too. It hardly seems fair to harangue the Tea Party for something liberal blogs haven’t figured out either.
